This is simply a gorgeous set of paper dolls. Tom Tierney doesn't disappoint. There are two dolls; The young Queen Victoria of England, and the stylish Empress of France. There are 24 exquisite costumes. There has a lot of attention to detail. The dolls do not have stands but fold back at the bottom and have instructions for making a brace to help hold them up. The whole set is on beautiful sturdy paperboard with a matte finish . There are several paragraphs about the fashion designs of the Victorian era as well. All in all it's a very nice set.

Very nice artwork. I was just surprised how small the dolls are. I guess Dover not only is currently publishing in a smaller format, but also trying to get more costumes per page. Those gowns take up a lot of skirt room! I wish they would go back to the larger format, but I suppose it has to do with printing costs. Still, this is a nice collection of designs for the era and well worth the investment.

These paper dolls are so beautiful that I hesitate cutting them out to use as paper dolls. They are not the punch out type. They will have to be cut out by hand. I am planning on using an x-acto knife. The dresses are very elaborate and will be a tough job to cut out for an adult. I hope my granddaughter appreciates the effort.The paper is very heavy which is great for the dresses. I intend to put the ladies on heavy cardboard to make them more durable. These are too beautiful not to make them last as long as possible. The colors are vibrant. There is a nice variety of clothing options.Once I cut them out, I intend to secure them in page jackets to store them. I will reproduce the "book" by using the cover and back as the booklet jacket.

Good overview but skimps on 1890s.

I loved paper dolls as a child. My favorite era to read about is the Victorian years. I combined the two with this book and have some of the dresses cut out and framed in my craft area. They are beautiful dresses and good quality paper.

I purchased this for my neice and actually all of the adults at the party were so impressed with how beautiful the pictures are. The pictures are fabulous but the only thing I don't like is you have to cut them out by hand. I was hoping they were pop outs since it was for a five year old but she liked it anyway.
