An excellent pictorial history of the glory days of the Alaska Bush Pilot.I flew "the Alaska bush" in the late 1980's, and while that frontier was still very much alive, I had it easy compared to those daring COWBOYS of yesteryear.(Sorry, I couldn't help but use the term COWBOY to counter that completely unfair 2-star rating for this book by the reader GilN—who, by the way, wrote the EXACT SAME 1-sentence comment about my novel, "The Last Bush Pilots.") The metaphor of a pioneering aviator being called a "cowboy," is apropos, I believe, as it evokes characteristics such as bravery, frontier spirit, and boldness in the face of adversity.Alaska's Bush Pilots (Images of Aviation) is a fine, accurate pictorial history of the Alaska skies as it once was.
Alaska bush pilots are not "cowboys". Unfortunate chacterization of incredibly professional men.
