How I wish this book had been available forty years ago, when I was beginning my career! How I wish someone had given it to me, and how I wish I'd been wise enough to read it, study it and take to heart all its lessons. I'd be a very wealthy, highly productive and likely much happier person today.THE WEALTHY GARDENER is subtitled "Life Lessons on Prosperity Between Father and Son", and although the author intends the book as a gift to his own son, these lessons he doles out involve no son, since the book is written as fiction, with a main character who has no children, though he does have a protege, and is intended as a way to transition easily from lesson to lesson. It's divided into three parts, with 55 specific wealth-gathering lessons and other chapters on the Seeds of Wealth and the Virtues of Wealth. Each lesson is readable and simple to understand, but together they are a powerful road map for living a successful and ultimately joyous life by being productive and becoming wealthy.Soforic uses some of the mantras of the Law of Attraction, but unlike many other LOA practitioners, he makes the point that you cannot achieve financial independence without tremendous, sustained effort, which a lot of LOA people dismiss as silly and useless. He says he just knows what worked for him, but I suspect it will work for every one of us if we delve into it. For me, just the lessons on the importance of impact hours was enough to make it clear that I should pay close attention and be prepared to go back and read again if I don't get it the first time.I did not have relatives or friends who sat me down and taught me the basics of success. This book had to do it for me, many years after I went out into the world hoping to make an impact. My son has recently graduated from college, and I've already told him I expect him to read it and take note of it.
